Did the Buffalo Bills ever go by another name?

January 8th, 2009 | by admin |

So a friend of mine mentioned that The Buffalo Bills was not their original name. I was born, raised, and still live in Buffalo, NY and I have NEVER heard anything about this. Is there any truth to this?
for anyone who is says that they did have another name.. can you list the source of the information please?

Ya they have always been the Buffalo Bills…when Ralph Wilson first started the team he had a contest to name the team and that was the name they chose…always has been the Bills

Yes, from 1963 thru the 1964 season they were called the wings and had a wing on their helmet. then in ‘65 they changed it back to the bills. Briefly during a losing streak in 1959 they were referred to as the chips.
