Drunk Buffalo Bills Fan Inspirational Tailgate Speech

November 30th, 2009

For my money, these are the best tailgaters ever. Before the Bills Chargers game on Oct. 19 2008, some fans were having a great time in the parking lot. Drinking, bowling, wearing pumpkins and giving inspirational speeches. And it works, the Bills won.

2007 Nfl Betting: Analyzing the Afc East

November 24th, 2009
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (12-4 SU, 9-6-1 ATS): The Patriots probably were a wide receiver away from the Super Bowl last season so New England added Randy Moss (Oakland), Donte Stallworth (Philadelphia), Kelly Washington (Cincinnati) and Wes Welker (Miami) to Tom Brady’s ample toy chest. The Patriots also acquired TE Kyle Brady (Jacksonville) and RB Sammy Morris (Miami). The addition of LB Adalius Thomas (Baltimore), the gem of the free agent market, and the drafting of safety Brandon Meriweather in the first round, addressed pressing defensive needs. Those moves could be enough for a fourth Super Bowl appearance in seven seasons.

By the Numbers (Regular Season, 1998-2006)

SU: 92-52

ATS: 79-58-7

HF: 28-26-4

HD: 10-3-1

AF: 17-14

AD: 24-14-2

Sportsbook Buster: The visitor in the Patriots-Jets rivalry is 13-3 ATS, the last 16 meetings.

Sports Betting Angle: New England is a solid 24-14-2 ATS as a road underdog, something it will likely be in Indianapolis, Nov. 4.

NEW YORK JETS (10-6 SU, 11-5 ATS): Eric Mangini took a team that was 4-12 the previous year to the playoffs but what can the ambitious young head coach do for an encore? For starters, the Jets must improve a weak pass rush. Other defensive needs were addressed by draft picks Darrelle Revis, a cornerback, and David Harris, a linebacker. Chad Pennington must remain healthy and New York needs to improve a running game that ranked 30th in average gain per rush (3.5) if the offense is to be feared but if all that happens, another wild card is a possibility.

By the Numbers (Regular Season, 1998-2006)

SU: 78-66

ATS: 75-61-8

HF: 24-20-2

HD: 12-12-1

AF: 9-7-1

AD: 29-20-4

Sportsbook Buster: The Jets have lost six straight games ATS versus the Ravens, who they play in Baltimore, Sept. 16.

Sports Betting Angle: New York has covered seven straight games against division rival Miami.

BUFFALO BILLS (7-9 SU, 10-6 ATS): The Bills had three huge holes to fill when RB Willis McGahee, LB London Fletcher and CB Nate Clements departed. Head Coach Dick Jauron feels he addressed two of those needs in the draft with RB Marshawn Lynch (Cal) and LB Paul Posluszny (Penn State). Clements’ spot will be filled from within. The schedule—-with no losing teams in the first eight games-—will test the revamped Bills early. Buffalo would like J.P. Losman to hand off as much as he throws, especially behind a huge offensive line. That said, improving on last year’s 7-9 record will be no easy task.

By the Numbers (Regular Season, 1998-2006)

SU: 67-77

ATS: 72-67-5

HF: 24-21-1

HD: 10-13-1

AF: 8-7-1

AD: 28-26-2

Sportsbook Buster: The Bills are an amazing 13-1 ATS the week after playing the Patriots.

Sports Betting Angle: Buffalo has lost seven straight games ATS versus Pittsburgh (Sept. 16).

MIAMI DOLPHINS (6-10 SU, 6-10 ATS): New Head Coach Cam Cameron did a fine job with the San Diego offense but there’s less talent in Miami, where Trent Green (Kansas City) will be the new starter at quarterback and Ronnie Brown will be handed the ball. The offensive line must be reworked but the defense is solid, if aging. NFL Defensive Player of the Year Jason Taylor will be joined by Joey Porter in a 3-4 alignment that brings pressure on opposing QBs. Generally, teams need a year to adjust to a new system so it wouldn’t be a surprise if Miami struggled in its first season under Cameron.

By the Numbers (Regular Season, 1998-2006)

SU: 79-75

ATS: 71-70-3

HF: 28-29-1

HD: 7-7

AF: 13-9

AD: 24-23-2

Sportsbook Buster: The Dolphins have covered nine of their last 10 games as an underdog of six or more points.

Sports Betting Angle: Miami is only 6-26 as a favorite in its last two games of the season.

Legend:

SU = Straight Up

ATS = Against the Spread

HF = Home Favorite

HD = Home Underdog

AF = Away Favorite

AD = Away Underdog

List Of Divisions For The NFL Teams

November 23rd, 2009
With 32 teams competing in the NFL leagues each year it would be difficult for me to review them all in one article, therefore here is a summary of some of the more popular and successful NFL teams through the previous years.

Firstly, the most recent winners of the Super Bowl – The Pittsburgh Steelers from Pennsylvania, they are in the North Division of the AFC, and were founded in 1933. In there time the Steelers have won the Superbowl 6 times, making them one of the more successful NFL teams to date. One of the more recent victorious times for the Steelers is known as the Chuck Noll Era when they hired him as their coach and he bought with it a change in their luck, with the retirement of Chuck Noll came the hiring of Bill Cowher who led the Steelers to the playoffs consecutively for the first six years. Their latest success comes at the pride of Art Rooney´s five sons who have an 80% share in the team.

The next team to mention is the Greenbay Packers, as they have won the Championship more times than any other NFL team – a total of 12 times. They were founded in 1919 by Earl Lambeau, hence the name of the field where the team plays, Lambeau Field. They have won the Super Bowl three times with the first two being consecutive with victory in the Super Bowl I and II in 1967 and 1968. The packers pride themselves to e the only non-profit team that is community owned in the professional major leagues in the United States. Their rivals are the Chicago Bears who they have competed against I over 170 games, other rivals include the Minnesota Vikings and the Dallas Cowboys.

With these two NFL teams mentioned the remain teams making up the NFL are as follows;

The AFC Conference consists of;

East – Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots and New York Jets

North – Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers

South – Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans

West – Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers

The NFL Teams competing in the NFC are as follows;

East – Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins

North – Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings

South – Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers

West – Arizona Cardinals, St. Louis Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks

This is the full, comprehensive list of all 32 teams currently competing for the Super Bowl each season and regardless of which team you follow there is something for you at QuarterbackFan.com – an amazing site not to be missed by any NFL fan.

Jacksonville Jaguars

November 22nd, 2009
The Jacksonville Jaguars is one of the youngest football teams of the National Football League. They call Jacksonville, Florida their home and play in the updated and renovated former Gator Bowl. They came about in 1995 and have pretty much been a fair football powerhouse since their first season. The stadium that they play in is an historic landmark. Built in the Great Depression out of steel trusses, the mammoth Stadium is now called Jacksonville Municipal Stadium but most people around the Northeast Florida area still call it the Gator Bowl.

Florida had not seen any new NFL teams since the Tampa Bay Bucs were added in the 1976 season. Even though the state of Florida already had 2 pro football teams, the state was and still is such a football-crazy area of the USA, adding a third team to the state’s NFL roster posed no problem. Jacksonville, Florida is the largest land-area city in the US and the fan base for the Jaguars is spread out over about 1000 square miles of territory. It includes all of Northeast Florida and a large part of Southeast Georgia.

Jax was in the running in the 1990s for their team against North Carolina, Missouri, Maryland, and Tennessee. Many thought that since Florida already had 2 pro teams that is really was not fair that the state should get a third pro football team. But a group was formed in Jacksonville to bring a team to town and in 1991 they placed a formal application with the NFL. Governor Jeb Bush was included in the original ownership group along with Tom Petway. They had already named the team the Jacksonville Jaguars and with the leadership of Wayne Weaver, the founder of shoe company Nine West, the city of Jacksonville was destined to get their pro football team.

A few hurtles had to be overcome in the beginning with the renovation of the Gator Bowl being one and the selling of the first season’s tickets being the other one. A first drive to sell the not-so-cheap season tickets resulted in over 10,000 seats being sold in 10 days. On November 31, 1993, the day after Jax was announced as the 30th winning NFL franchise; there were 25,000 fans on hand at the Gator Bowl to celebrate the official announcement. That day, official season ticket sales were a kick off and within ten days, sales for season tickets had passed the 55,000 mark.

The Gator Bowl game at the end of 1993 was the last game in the old stadium. The revered Bowl was pretty much demolished and replaced. The replacement consisted of reinforced concrete superstructure status and all that really remained of the old stadium was the West upper deck and a small portion of the ramping system. The first game played in the new stadium happened in the 1995 season with a preseason game of the Jacksonville Jaguars against the St. Louis Rams.

Jacksonville’s first 1996 season was a big success. They were winners of 6 of their final seven games in the season and ended up with a 9-7 record. This got them the 5th seed in the AFC playoffs where they would face off with the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo. They beat the Bills 30-27. Then they faced the Denver Broncos who had a 13-3 record for that year and were the powerhouse of the AFC. Even though Denver was a super team that year, the Jags, lead by mark Brunell, beat the Broncos 30-27 in Denver. When the team returned home, they were greeted by over 40,000 devoted fans at their home stadium.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are set up to have a very illustrious future and if the fan base around Northeast Florida has anything to say about it, Jacksonville will have a pro football team for a long time to come.
